After a tough crash at the end of her second run, she came back with a dynamic third run down the course to score 76.46 points. Photo by Darren Calabrese\/COC.<\/p>\n<p>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/2026\/02\/09\/redemption-and-an-olympic-bronze-medal-for-freestyle-skier-megan-oldham\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Redemption and an Olympic bronze medal for freestyle skier Megan Oldham<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/naomi-urness\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Naomi Urness<\/a> finished seventh in her Olympic debut after scoring 64.73 in her third run.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Long Track Speed Skating<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/beatrice-lamarche\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">B\u00e9atrice Lamarche<\/a> was the top Canadian in the women\u2019s 1000m, finishing fifth with her time of 1:14.73. This is Canada\u2019s best Olympic result in the event since <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/games\/2010-vancouver\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vancouver 2010<\/a>. Skating in the penultimate pairing, Lamarche was in third place for a moment, until the last two skaters pushed her off the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Also making their Olympic debuts were <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/carolina-hiller-donnelly\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Carolina Hiller-Donnelly<\/a>, who finished 26th in 1:17.156, and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/rose-laliberte-roy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rose Lalibert\u00e9-Roy<\/a>, who was one spot back in 1:17.50.<\/p>\n<p>Figure Skating<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/piper-gilles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Piper Gilles<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/paul-poirier\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Poirier<\/a> are in third place after the rhythm dance, earning a score of 86.18 points. Photo by Leah Hennel\/COC<\/p>\n<p>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/2026\/02\/09\/canadian-ice-dance-teams-all-advance-to-final-at-the-milano-cortina-2026-olympics\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canadian ice dance teams all advance to final at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/marjoire-lajoie\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marjorie Lajoie<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/zachary-lagha\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zachary Lagha<\/a> are in ninth place with 79.66 points while <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/marie-jade-lauriault\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marie-Jade Lauriault<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/romain-le-gac\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Romain Le Gac<\/a> sit 15th with 74.35 points.<\/p>\n<p>Hockey <\/p>\n<p>Team Canada improved to 2-0 at the Milano Cortina 2026 women\u2019s hockey tournament with a 5-1 win over Czechia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/julia-gosling\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Julia Gosling<\/a> scored twice for Canada while <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/kristin-oneill-2\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kristin O\u2019Neill<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/sarah-fillier\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sarah Fillier<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/laura-stacey\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Laura Stacey<\/a> added singles. Photo by Leah Hennel\/COC<\/p>\n<p>Curling<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/jocelyn-peterman\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jocelyn Peterman<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/brett-gallant\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brett Gallant<\/a> won their last round robin game in the mixed doubles tournament, a bittersweet finish after they were eliminated from playoff contention the day before. They defeated Switzerland 8-4 to finish with a 4-5 record, good for fifth place overall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/2026\/02\/09\/peterman-gallant-end-olympic-mixed-doubles-curling-competition-with-near-perfect-performance\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Peterman, Gallant end Olympic mixed doubles curling competition with near-perfect performance<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Luge<\/p>\n<p>The first Canadians took to the track at the Cortina Sliding Centre with the first two runs of women\u2019s singles. <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/trinity-ellis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trinity Ellis<\/a> is in 15th place with her total time of 1:46.861. First time Olympian <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/embyr-lee-susko\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Embyr-Lee Susko<\/a> sits in 17th place with a time of 1:47.418.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"754\" width=\"1131\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/CAW_20260209_2570.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-348333\"  \/>Team Canada\u2019s Embyr-Lee Susko competes in women\u2019s 1000m speed skating finals at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy on Monday, February 09, 2026. Photo by Candice Ward\/COC<\/p>\n<p>Ski Jumping<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/mackenzie-boyd-clowes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes<\/a> finished 45th in the men\u2019s individual normal hill after earning 110.8 points for his jump in the first round. Only the top 30 advanced to the final round.
