Country singer-songwriter Charley Crockett believes his music industry peers should be \u201ctaking notes\u201d from Bad Bunny<\/a> rather than continuing to support an \u201coppressor\u201d like President Donald Trump<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Crockett tore into Trump Monday in a fiery Instagram post<\/a> recalling his experience at the Grammy Awards earlier this month and praising Bad Bunny\u2019s Super Bowl halftime show, which has drawn considerable <\/a>backlash<\/a> from conservatives. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey keep saying I\u2019m a cosplay cowboy but they love a cosplay president,\u201d he wrote. \u201cWhen I was at the Grammys the other night I saw a guy get up and talk about Jesus, and then I saw Bad Bunny get up there and talk like Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe country music establishment should be taking notes on a Puerto Rican American who hasn\u2019t forgotten his heritage and brought his culture\u2019s traditional music back to the front, showing the world something new with it,\u201d Crockett added.<\/p>\n

Crockett, a two-time Grammy nominee, was alluding to fellow musician Jelly Roll<\/a>, who got religious during his Grammy acceptance speech yet dodged questions about politics<\/a> in interviews afterward. <\/p>\n

Most of Crockett\u2019s criticism, however, was reserved for Trump, whom he called a \u201cdraft dodger\u201d and \u201cgrifter who bankrupted 6 casinos\u201d who has succeeded only at \u201cfiling lawsuits and portraying a successful business man as a reality TV actor.\u201d <\/p>\n

As for tech billionaire Elon Musk<\/a>, who recently reconciled with the president after a very public falling-out, he added: \u201cLet\u2019s deport his ass and send [PayPal and Palantir co-founder] Peter Thiel<\/a> back with him since they both openly believe in a post democratic society where men of their class are above the law.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the post, Crockett said he has \u201ca problem with a 34 time convicted felon running this country when I lost the right to vote or own a weapon for years over marijuana … As a great man once said it\u2019s welfare for the rich and rugged individualism for the poor.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIf you can sleep at night licking their boots that\u2019s between you and yours, but that type of thinking isn\u2019t freedom. It\u2019s mental slavery,\u201d he continued. \u201cEvery single right we have as a people wasn\u2019t handed to us. We had to fight and take it. Judge a man by how he treats the poor and those who he views as being able to do nothing for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Crockett, a Texas native, has released a total of 15 studio albums over the course of his career. His most recent release was 2025\u2019s \u201cDollar a Day<\/a>,\u201d which received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Country Album. <\/p>\n

His comments come as Trump<\/a> and other conservatives<\/a> \u2015 many of whom initially pledged to skip this year\u2019s halftime show \u2015 have taken aim<\/a> at Bad Bunny, an outspoken critic<\/a> of the Trump administration\u2019s crackdown on immigrants. <\/p>\n

As of Tuesday afternoon, Crockett\u2019s post had received glowing praise from many of his followers, including fellow musicians Sam Williams<\/a>, the grandson of country legend Hank Williams, and Margo Price. <\/p>\n

\u201cThank you. We all need to hear this,\u201d Williams wrote in the comments, while Price added: \u201cLove to hear it brother.\u201d<\/p>\n
