{"id":467539,"date":"2026-02-11T07:15:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T07:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/467539\/"},"modified":"2026-02-11T07:15:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T07:15:07","slug":"riders-add-veteran-global-lb-tyron-vrede","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/467539\/","title":{"rendered":"Riders Add Veteran Global Lb Tyron Vrede"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Global linebacker\u00a0Tyron\u00a0Vrede.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Vrede\u00a0(6\u20190-230) spent the\u00a0previous\u00a0five seasons with the Ottawa REDBLACKS, after being selected by the Club in the second round, 10th overall, of the 2021 CFL Global Draft.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Consistent in his play on both\u00a0defence\u00a0and special teams, the Norwegian has appeared in 55 regular season games and registered 41 defensive tackles, 35 special\u00a0teams\u00a0tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Collegiately,\u00a0Vrede\u00a0played two seasons (2018-19) at North Dakota, appearing in 22 games as a Fighting Hawk. He earned 55 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss, four\u00a0sacks\u00a0and two pass deflections. Prior to North Dakota, he played at Garden City Community College \u2013 where he made the switch to\u00a0linebacker\u00a0from defensive back and posted 28 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble.
