“But I stuck with it. It\u2019s one day at a time. Days turn into weeks, weeks into months, and now everything\u2019s coming together. The fitness is there, I\u2019m in great shape, I\u2019m healthy.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m actually beating the alarm clock now, eager to get to the gym. At the start, I wanted to turn my back on it, but I\u2019m glad I didn\u2019t. It\u2019s hard, but you\u2019ve got to persist and keep going.”<\/p>\n

He added: “It means the world to me that I got the call to step in for Ricky. I understand what we\u2019re all going through and what this fight represents. For me, this is for people who are struggling.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019ve struggled myself – with depression, addiction, mental health – and it\u2019s important to say that it\u2019s OK not to be OK, and that it\u2019s OK to reach out.”<\/p>\n
However, it might not be the last time we see Brook in a ring, as he refused to rule out a longer comeback.<\/p>\n
“You never know. It\u2019s one fight at a time. But my joy is back, and you never know \u2013 those big fights might still be there.<\/p>\n
“I left the sport with a tremendous win against Amir Khan.
