{"id":468856,"date":"2026-02-11T21:43:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T21:43:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/468856\/"},"modified":"2026-02-11T21:43:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T21:43:07","slug":"jason-momoa-joins-justin-lins-helldivers-video-game-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/468856\/","title":{"rendered":"Jason Momoa Joins Justin Lin\u2019s \u2018Helldivers\u2019 Video Game Movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jason-momoa\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jason-momoa_1\" data-tag=\"jason-momoa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jason Momoa<\/a> has nabbed the leading role in Helldivers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/justin-lin\/\" id=\"auto-tag_justin-lin_1\" data-tag=\"justin-lin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Justin Lin<\/a>\u2019s video game adaptation for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sony-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sony-pictures_1\" data-tag=\"sony-pictures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sony Pictures<\/a> and PlayStation Productions and based on the popular video game franchise from Arrowhead Game Studios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSony Pictures has also set a Nov. 10, 2027 theatrical release for the feature adaptation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe project is based on a video game that launched in 2015 and the sequel,\u00a0Helldivers 2,\u00a0sold over 12 million units and centers on an elite unit of soldiers\u2014known as Helldivers\u2014 who must battle alien creatures threatening to destroy the fictional planet of Super Earth. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tGary Dauberman, the scribe behind the hit\u00a0It\u00a0and\u00a0Annabelle\u00a0horror movies, wrote the initial script for the project, which then caught the attention of Lin, who is best known for his work on the\u00a0Fast and Furious\u00a0action movies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHutch Parker, Asad Qizilbash and Lin are producing the video game movie. Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions previously worked together on\u00a0Uncharted, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, which earned $407 million globally and is one of the top ten highest grossing video game adaptation globally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPlayStation Productions is also a producer on Peacock\u2019s hit series\u00a0Twisted Metal\u00a0and HBO\u2019s award winning\u00a0The Last of Us. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tMomoa is also starring in Warner Bros.\/Legendary\u2019s\u00a0A Minecraft Movie,\u00a0alongside Jack Black and Danielle Brooks, and recently starred in Amazon MGM Studios\u2019\u00a0The Wrecking Crew, directed by \u00c1ngel Manuel Soto, alongside Dave Bautista and Morena Baccarin. His upcoming movie credits include DC\u2019s\u00a0Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,\u00a0wherein he plays the intergalactic bounty hunter\u00a0Lobo;\u00a0starring opposite Ryan Reynolds in Legendary\/Warner Bros.\u2019 Animal Friends,\u00a0a live-action\/animated adventure; and playing\u00a0Blanka\u00a0in Legendary\u2019s\u00a0Street Fighter.
