The documentary following first lady Melania Trump<\/a> during the 20 days leading up to her husband\u2019s 2025 inauguration features the song \u201cBarbara Rose,\u201d which Greenwood originally composed for Anderson\u2019s movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cIt has come to our attention that a piece of music from Phantom Thread has been used in the \u2018Melania\u2018 documentary,\u201d the two said in a statement, obtained by Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile Jonny Greenwood does not own the copyright in the score, Universal failed to consult Jonny on this third-party use which is a breach of his composer agreement,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cAs a result Jonny and Paul Thomas Anderson have asked for it to be removed from the documentary.\u201d<\/p>\n Beckman disputed the allegations in the request, telling Breitbart \u201cthis is just ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe have legally binding, fully executed contracts in place to use every song in \u2018Melania,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The producer then railed on news outlets that reported on the request, claiming they never contacted anyone involved in the documentary\u2019s production before publishing.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s time for journalists to report the news as opposed to making it up,\u201d Beckman said. \u201cI have a tremendous amount of respect for journalism and its role in American society, but if it continues to head in this direction, it will lose its impact and importance in our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n The documentary has a low 11% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> but received high viewer praise.
