WHO’s Department for HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
\n has consolidated all existing normative guidance on STIs into a single
\npublication. Structured around 10 chapters that follow the STI prevention
\n and care cascade, the handbook covers primary prevention, syndromic
\nmanagement and asymptomatic case identification, diagnostics, treatment,
\n partner management, surveillance, service delivery, and integration
\nwithin primary health care, community-based clinics, or other platforms
\n(HIV, sexual health, antenatal clinics, etc).<\/p>\n
Developed
\n according to WHO’s rigorous guideline development standards, the
\nhandbook draws on the latest WHO recommendations across multiple
\nguideline modules published between 2016 and 2025. Primarily aimed at
\nnational STI programme managers and policy-makers, it also serves health-care providers, laboratory professionals, and technical organizations\u00a0involved in STIs\u00a0prevention
\n and control. Seven annexes provide ready-to-use tools including
\nsyndromic management flowcharts, diagnostic summaries, treatment
\nrecommendations, partner services guidance, and STIs\u00a0indicators for monitoring and evaluation.<\/p>\n
