Toledo, Ohio \u2013 The Youngstown State men’s tennis team defeated Toledo 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club. It was YSU’s first dual win at Toledo since Jan. 20, 1998.<\/p>\n
The Guins (4-1) have now won four straight matches while Toledo drops to 3-6.<\/p>\n
In doubles, YSU dropped a 6-0 match at No. 3 before battling back to win the key point. At No. 2, Dominik Vonbank<\/a> and Matteo Ceradelli<\/a> picked up a 6-4 win. In a marathon match at No. 1, Alexis Mauoluet and Rafael Le Fur<\/a> picked up a 7-6 (3) victory.<\/p>\n In singles, five of the six matches went three sets.<\/p>\n At No. 1, Maulouet rallied for a 1-6, 6-0, 7-5 win and at No. 6, Oscar Gippet<\/a> won by a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 margin. The clincher was at No. 5 as Malo Vernejoul<\/a> rallied for a 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory<\/p>\n The Bulls won in three sets at No. 3 and No. 4 as Vonbank won his first set while Le Fur won his second set.<\/p>\n The Penguins are back in action next Friday when they visit Mercyhurst.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
