Stephen William Hawking was a British theoretical physicist and cosmologist. Born on January 8, 1942 in Oxford, Hawking is considered one of the most influential scientists of the second half of the 20th century due to his contributions to fundamental physics and cosmology.<\/p>\n

Hawking completed his undergraduate studies at University College, Oxford, where he earned a degree in physics, and continued his postgraduate education at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, specializing in general relativity and cosmology. From the age of 21, Hawking lived with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that gradually left him almost completely paralyzed and dependent on a voice synthesizer to communicate. Despite these physical limitations, he continued researching and teaching for decades, defying medical expectations and becoming a symbol of intellectual perseverance.<\/p>\n

Although Hawking is universally recognized for his work in theoretical physics, he was also a thinker who reflected deeply on the mind, creativity, and the value of introspection. In 1974, he proposed that black holes emit radiation, now known as Hawking radiation<\/a>, combining principles of quantum mechanics with general relativity. Beyond academic research, Hawking became one of the most important scientific communicators of his time.
