{"id":473617,"date":"2026-02-14T02:50:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-14T02:50:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/473617\/"},"modified":"2026-02-14T02:50:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T02:50:12","slug":"comedian-and-indianapolis-native-mike-epps-opens-boxing-gym-on-north-side","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/473617\/","title":{"rendered":"Comedian and Indianapolis native Mike Epps opens boxing gym on north side"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Actor and comedian Mike Epps is opening a new boxing gym on the north side of Indianapolis. <\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771037412_510_.png\" alt=\"Screenshot 2026-02-13 200742.png\"  width=\"914\" height=\"478\"\/><\/p>\n<p>WRTV<\/p>\n<p>The Right Jab Boxing Gym is on Sutherland Avenue near 38th Street and East Fall Creek Parkway North Drive. <\/p>\n<p>Epps, an Indianapolis native, put another Indy native in charge of the gym: former heavyweight boxing champion Lamon Brewster.<\/p>\n<p>Officials with The Right Jab Boxing Gym say Brewster brings championship-level boxing experience, mentorship and discipline to the business. <\/p>\n<p>Epps shares that putting this gym in Indy is important to him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s no way that I could gain the success that I have and not bring it back and share it,&#8221; Epps told WRTV on Friday. &#8220;A lot of entertainers, a lot of people move out of their hometowns, and go to big cities, do work, but no place like bringing it back to your hometown where you grew up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771037412_881_.png\" alt=\"Screenshot 2026-02-13 201100.png\"  width=\"897\" height=\"480\"\/><\/p>\n<p>WRTV<\/p>\n<p>Right Jab Boxing is a private gym, but it will have a website for people to sign up to train.
