Ken Clements, who lives in Edmonton\u2019s Boyle-McCauley neighbourhood, recounted what he saw early Monday morning when a fire broke out in a neighbour\u2019s house, near 93 Street and 105 Avenue.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI woke up, because I usually get up around 5:30 anyways. I seen lights outside my window and I seen the smoke coming out of the corner of the house,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI figured the house was on fire. I figured it was going to burn to the ground because they\u2019re old houses. But it didn\u2019t. They got it out before it burnt to the ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout two hours they were working on the inside, and then one guy came out and said, \u2018I think there\u2019s a body in here,\u2019 one of the firemen. She was in the back bedroom, from what I understand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Investigators had to use DNA evidence to identify the victim, and while her death has been ruled a homicide, police won\u2019t say how she was killed.<\/p>\n

Family members have identified her as 39-year-old Teresa Sara Katcheech, a mother of two sons, ages 11 and 17 and an 8-year-old daughter who were being raised by a cousin of hers, although she still visited with them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just started crying,\u201d said her oldest son Damen about learning of the death of his mom.\u00a0 \u201cThat was my biggest fear, losing my mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her family remembers her as funny, outspoken, kind and beautiful and they set up a memorial of flowers, cards and photos outside the house where she died.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was missing her a lot,\u201d said younger son Kieran. \u201cI wrote, \u2018I love you Mom\u2019 and then I wrote, \u2018Love, Kieran.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just don\u2019t get how you could do that to mom, and like whoever did it I hope that every day that they go to bed (with) my mom on their mind. Every day that they wake up, my mom\u2019s on their mind,\u201d said Damen.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor her life to end this way is just \u2014 it\u2019s not fair,\u201d said her cousin Jeslyn Tremblay.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\tTeresa Katcheech\u2019s two sons, Damen and Kieran, told Global News they don\u2019t understand how anyone could do what they did to their mom.\t\t\t\t <\/p>\n

Teresa\u2019s family members say she didn\u2019t live at the house where her body was found.<\/p>\n

But a neighbour told Global News a man who did was evicted three months ago, but was still squatting there.<\/p>\n

The victim\u2019s family have set up a GoFundMe <\/a>campaign has been set up to help cover the cost of\u00a0 a \u201ccelebration of life\u201d for her and to support her children.<\/p>\n
