data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"video\" data-node-id=\"4.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">video<\/a> posted online, Shea felt compelled to tell people about the benefits she had seen from adding rebounding to her routine \u2013 and the exact sessions she did over the 30 days. <\/p>\n<p>What is rebounding?<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"11\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">First, though, let\u2019s get into exactly what rebounding \u2013 which has fans ranging from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a69133715\/tess-daly-rebounding-fitness\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a69133715\/tess-daly-rebounding-fitness\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Tess Daly\" data-node-id=\"11.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tess Daly<\/a> to NASA \u2013 is. \u2018Rebounding is a low-impact cardio exercise that takes place on a mini trampoline, also known as a rebounder,\u2019 Aly Giampolo, founder of The Ness, previously told WH. &#8216;It\u2019s accessible for movers of all ages, and because it\u2019s low impact, the intensity level can be adapted depending on the type of workout you\u2019re looking for.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"15\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">As Shea explains in the video, the accessibility of the exercise is part of what drew her to it in the first place \u2013 and she also cites <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a64924965\/rebounding-vs-running-study\/\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a64924965\/rebounding-vs-running-study\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"NASA\u2019s famous study\" data-node-id=\"15.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NASA\u2019s famous study<\/a> on rebounding, which found that doing just 10 rebounder, explaining that she had been advised that it was \u2018better for holistic health\u2019 due to the higher G-force being more effective for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/female-health\/a64439466\/zoe-ball-lymphatic-drainage\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/female-health\/a64439466\/zoe-ball-lymphatic-drainage\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"lymphatic drainage\" data-node-id=\"23.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">lymphatic drainage<\/a> and that it was quieter than a metal spring rebounder.   <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"27\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">As for how she approached the challenge, Shea explains that she started gradually. \u2018I literally did like two minutes just jumping around for the first seven days,\u2019 she says, to familiarise herself with the movement and avoid any risk of injury. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"31\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018I continued to learn more in that week and I learnt that it didn\u2019t exacerbate or hurt my back,\u2019 adds Shay. \u2018I also learnt about the health bounce, which is when you actually leave your feet on the mat when you\u2019re bouncing \u2013 so you\u2019re not actually jumping enough to fully get your feet off of the mat; you\u2019re just going up on the balls of your feet and coming back down.\u2019 A gentler, more minimal lift, health bouncing is often promoted for its lymphatic drainage and circulation benefits. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"35\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">For week two, Shay says she decided to do the health bounce for two minutes in the morning and two minutes at night. \u2018I continued to see that you don\u2019t have to go crazy on this thing to see incredible results,\u2019 she adds. \u2018I kept it short and sweet and after I was done, I was kind of wanting to do more \u2013 but I said I\u2019m going to start this slow.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Related Story<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"40\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">In week three, Shay started incorporating other moves and techniques that she learnt from instructors on YouTube, often following online workout videos but sometimes devising her own routines. \u2018I would do jumping jacks, high knees, twists, and would incorporate my arms,\u2019 she says. \u2018The possibilities are endless \u2013 there\u2019s so many things you can do.\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"44\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018My favourite thing is you could just turn on some good TV or a movie and just go to town with this and not even go crazy \u2013 the time flies; this thing is beyond enjoyable,&#8217; adds Shay. \u2018That might be my biggest revelation with this \u2013 I have never in my life looked forward to doing an exercise or workout.\u2019 This enjoyment, says Shay, made it much easier to stick to and left her wanting to carry on beyond her two-minute minimum daily dose target.<br data-node-id=\"44.1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The results <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"49\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">So, onto the benefits \u2013 what did Shay notice happening to her own body and mind after 30 days of rebounding?<\/p>\n<p>1. Lymphatic drainage<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"55\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u2018I just feel like my body moves better, it\u2019s cleaner,\u2019 she says. \u2018I have never experienced anything like that with any other exercise \u2013 you physically feel your circulation improving, you physically feel that gravitational force moving everything in your body.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>2. Energy levels <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"61\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Shay adds that her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/sleep\/a69737632\/how-to-feel-more-awake-in-the-day-1765882736\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/health\/sleep\/a69737632\/how-to-feel-more-awake-in-the-day-1765882736\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"energy\" data-node-id=\"61.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">energy<\/a> levels benefitted hugely from rebounding. \u2018I would try to do this in the morning and it wasn\u2019t a huge load \u2013 it was just a few minutes in the morning and I felt better immediately afterwards, I felt energised, and then if I had a slump in the afternoon, I would want to do this,\u2019 she says. \u2018If I didn\u2019t have a slump in the afternoon, I would do this before bed \u2013 not right before, maybe around 7pm or 8pm.\u2019<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"65\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Just how instantly it boosted her mood surprised Shay, who once again stressed that she had never found a form of exercise that she genuinely enjoyed. <\/p>\n<p>3. Building muscle<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"71\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">While some people will look to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/fat-loss\/a62041510\/best-rebounding-workouts\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/fat-loss\/a62041510\/best-rebounding-workouts\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"rebounding\" data-node-id=\"71.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">rebounding<\/a> for weight loss, Shay explains that she can\u2019t comment on this because fat loss was not her goal for this challenge. However, she says \u2018I feel like my muscles are absolutely more toned.
