The 2026 NASCAR season is upon us. The final field for the Daytona 500 is set following single-car qualifying on Wednesday and the Duels last night. They were the first two open entrants to do so. Kyle Busch secured pole position<\/a> with the fastest lap, followed closely by Chase Briscoe, who will join him on the front row.<\/p>\n Last night, the two duels set the rest of the starting order for Sunday. Joey Logano won Duel 1 in overtime as the field wrecked behind. That wreck ruined open entry Corey LaJoie\u2019s hopes, as Casey Mears overtook him to claim the 3rd transfer spot.<\/p>\n NASCAR DQs Anthony Alfredo from Duel 2<\/p>\n In a heartbreaking twist, Anthony Alfredo, the 4th and final open entrant to seemingly secure his spot in the Daytona 500, failed post-race inspection. <\/p>\n According to NASCAR Cup Series Director Brad Moran, a transaxle cooling hose was \u201cloose\u201d and a driver cooling hose wasn\u2019t \u201cattached properly\u201d on Alfredo\u2019s No. 62 Beard Motorsports Chevy. As a result, Alfredo\u2019s time was disallowed<\/a>, clearing the way for BJ McLeod to take the final open spot in the Daytona 500.<\/p>\n
