As the new season begins, RFK Racing<\/a> enters the year facing a major unknown in the health and performance of team co-owner and driver Brad Keselowski<\/a>. On the most recent episode of The Teardown<\/a>, veteran journalist Jeff Gluck stated his belief that Keselowski\u2019s offseason leg injury looms large over the organization\u2019s outlook.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have a big question mark immediately hanging over the team,\u201d Gluck said<\/a>, pointing to the fractured femur Keselowski suffered in December after slipping while exiting a vehicle at a ski resort.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The injury left the 2012 Cup Series champion unable to walk for a period and required extensive rehabilitation. In turn, it\u2019s raising concerns about how it might affect his endurance and consistency across a full schedule.<\/p>\n

Gluck acknowledged Keselowski\u2019s resilience, as he rebounded from a slow start last year to finish 16th in season-long points. But still, he hesitated to project a postseason berth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just don\u2019t know what this injury is going to do,\u201d Gluck said, adding he currently has teammates Chris Buescher<\/a> and Ryan Preece<\/a> making the playoffs, while leaving Keselowski out.<\/p>\n

Despite the uncertainty, Keselowski has been medically cleared following an on-track test in Charlotte. That paves the way for his return at the Daytona 500.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting cleared was a huge moment for me,\u201d Keselowski told Bob Pockrass. \u201cYou put in the work, you trust the process, but until you hear that final \u2018yes,\u2019 nothing is guaranteed.\u201d<\/p>\n

He skipped the preseason Clash at Bowman Gray to focus on recovery. Keselowski said a rushed comeback would have been irresponsible.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want to rush back,\u201d Keselowski said. \u201cIf rehab went perfectly, we\u2019d barely have time to test. That seemed super foolish.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alas, the veteran has described his recovery as ongoing but encouraging: \u201cI\u2019m not great, but I\u2019m good,\u201d he said earlier. \u201cI had a major injury\u2026 I\u2019m now made of titanium in my leg.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moreover, Keselowski enters the season seeking a rebound after a winless 2025 campaign and missing the playoffs. His last victory came in May 2024 at Darlington, and he now aims to capture his first Harley J. Earl Trophy in the Great American Race.<\/p>\n

For RFK Racing, the stakes extend beyond one driver. Keselowski\u2019s performance level could define the team\u2019s competitive ceiling in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If he returns at full strength, RFK gains a proven contender and veteran leader. If limitations linger, the organization may lean heavily on Buescher and Preece to carry playoff hopes.<\/p>\n

Either way, Keselowski\u2019s recovery instantly becomes one of the season\u2019s most important storylines and a defining variable for RFK\u2019s championship aspirations.
