\n\tDuring a recent appearance on Brian Tyler Cohen\u2019s podcast<\/a>, Barack Obama<\/a> gave his reaction after an AI video<\/a> was posted to Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s Truth Social account that depicted the former president and his first lady, Michelle, as apes. Obama opened his thoughts by calmly stating that it\u2019s \u201cimportant to recognize that the majority of the American people find this behavior deeply troubling.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou know, it is true that it gets attention. It\u2019s true that it\u2019s a distraction. But, you know, as I\u2019m traveling around the country, as you\u2019re traveling around the country, you meet people. They still believe in decency, courtesy, kindness. And there\u2019s this sort of clown show that\u2019s happening in social media and on television,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd what is true is that there doesn\u2019t seem to be any shame about this among people who used to feel like you had to have some sort of decorum. And a sense of propriety and respect for the office, right? So that\u2019s been lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhite House press secretary Karoline Leavitt at first tried to defend the Feb. 6 post as an \u201cinternet meme\u201d and urged the press to \u201creport on something today that actually matters to the American public.\u201d However, the backlash from both sides of the political spectrum was too great, and the video was taken down<\/a> after nearly 12 hours.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter the racist video was deleted, the White House attempted to shift the blame to an unnamed staff member who \u201cerroneously\u201d shared it on Trump\u2019s account. The president seemed to contradict that claim hours later, telling the Associated Press<\/a> that he \u201cdidn\u2019t make a mistake\u201d and, instead, passed along the video for an aide to post.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI liked the beginning.
