There\u2019s also the Olympic debut of women\u2019s large hill ski jumping in which <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/abi-strate\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Abigail Strate<\/a> had podium hopes and the pairs figure skating short program will see the first Olympic appearance of <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/deanna-stellato-dudek\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deanna Stellato-Dudek<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/maxime-deschamps\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maxime Deschamps<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a look at what\u2019s happening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Alpine Skiing<\/p>\n<p>Four Canadians are entered in the women\u2019s giant slalom, which will have the first run go at 4:00 a.m. ET.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/valerie-grenier\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Val\u00e9rie Grenier<\/a> will be ninth out of the start gate, followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/britt-richardson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Britt Richardson<\/a> wearing bib No. 15. <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/cassidy-gray\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cassidy Gray<\/a> starts 34th and then <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/justine-lamontagne\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Justine Lamontagne<\/a> goes 42nd. Photo by Candice Ward\/COC<\/p>\n<p>Biathlon<\/p>\n<p>Four Canadians have qualified for the pursuit races, based on their top-60 performances in their respective sprint events. Athletes will start in the order and time interval of their finishes in the sprints, essentially pursuing the winners of those events.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At 5:15 a.m ET, <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/adam-runnalls\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Adam Runnalls<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/zachary-connelly\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zachary Connelly<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/logan-pletz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Logan Pletz<\/a> will compete in the men\u2019s 12.5km pursuit. Runnalls starts 31st, Connelly 48th, and Pletz 55th.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Then at 8:45 a.m. ET is the women\u2019s 10km pursuit. <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/benita-peiffer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Benita Peiffer <\/a>will start 56th.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bobsleigh<\/p>\n<p>Bobsleigh competition will get underway with the women\u2019s monobob, the first heat at 4:00 a.m. ET followed by the second heat at 5:50 a.m. ET.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/melissa-lotholz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Melissa Lotholz<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/cynthia-appiah\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cynthia Appiah<\/a> are the two Canadian pilots entered. Photo by Candice Ward\/COC *MANDATORY CREDIT*<\/p>\n<p>Cross-Country Skiing<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s 4\u00d77.5km relay will begin at 6:00 a.m. ET. <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/xavier-mckeever\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Xavier McKeever<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/antoine-cyr\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Antoine Cyr<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/remi-drolet\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">R\u00e9mi Drolet<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/tom-stephen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Stephen<\/a> will race for Canada. This is a new distance at the Olympic Games as the men\u2019s relay was previously 4x10km, but distances of all cross-country skiing events have been equalized across genders.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Curling<\/p>\n<p>Only one game on the schedule for Canadian curlers. Photo by Candice Ward\/COC<\/p>\n<p>Figure Skating<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/deanna-stellato-dudek\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deanna Stellato-Dudek<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/maxime-deschamps\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maxime Deschamps<\/a> will make their anticipated Olympic debut in the pairs short program. The duo missed the team event earlier in the Games after Stellato-Dudek sustained an injury in a training accident at home in Montreal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The competition begins at 1:45 p.m. ET. First up for Canada will be <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/lia-pereira\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lia Pereira<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/trennt-michaud\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trennt Michaud<\/a> who skated admirably in both programs during the team event. They\u2019ll perform at 3:13 p.m. ET. Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps will be on the ice at 4:14 p.m. ET.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Only the top 16 pairs will advance to the free skate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Freestyle Skiing<\/p>\n<p>After his silver medal in the single moguls, <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/mikael-kingsbury\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mika\u00ebl Kingsbury<\/a> has his sights set on gold in the first Olympic men\u2019s dual moguls event. He\u2019ll be joined in the 1\/16 finals starting at 4:30 a.m. ET by <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/julien-viel\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Julien Viel<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/elliot-vaillancourt\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elliot Vaillancourt<\/a>. The 12 men will advance to the final, based on their best two of three runs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hockey<\/p>\n<p>Team Canada plays its last preliminary round game in the men\u2019s tournament, taking on France at 10:40 a.m. ET.<\/p>\n<p>Skeleton\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/jane-channell\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jane Channell<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/josip-brusic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Josip Brusic<\/a> will be Canada\u2019s entry in the inaugural Olympic mixed team skeleton event at noon ET. Channell will go down the track first, followed by Brusic, each doing just one run.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ski Jumping<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/abi-strate\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Abigail Strate<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/nicole-maurer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nicole Maurer<\/a> will compete in the Olympic debut of the women\u2019s large hill event. Photo by Dave Holland\/COC<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone\u2019s really excited because we\u2019ve been jumping the large hill for years now (at World Cups and world championships), so it\u2019s not like the event is a challenge,\u201d said Strate, who has earned five of her six World Cup podiums this season in large hill events.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The first round goes at 12:45 p.m. ET from which the top 30 will move on to the final round at 1:57 p.m. ET.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Snowboard<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/eliot-grondin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Eliot Grondin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/audrey-mcmaniman\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Audrey McManiman<\/a> will join forces for the mixed team snowboard cross event, which gets going with the quarterfinals at 7:45 a.m. ET. Should they advance, the finals would start at 8:35 a.m. ET. Grondin has already won silver in men\u2019s snowboard at these Games.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With bad weather in the forecast, the qualification rounds for slopestyle have been moved up a day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The men will be on course at 4:15 a.m. ET. <a href=\"https:\/\/olympic.ca\/team-canada\/mark-mcmorris\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mark McMorris<\/a> is ready to start his quest for his third straight Olympic medal in the event after missing the big air event following a crash in training.
