Now, there’s an update on how things are being received behind the scenes inside WWE — and talent is absolutely aware of what’s happening.

After reports surfaced that TKO officials were unhappy with the pace of ticket distribution for WrestleMania 42, Sean Ross Sapp was asked directly about the backstage reaction within WWE. The question centered on whether frustration exists internally, or if the concern is mostly coming from outside speculation.

According to Sapp, there is internal awareness — and morale has been impacted, at least to some degree. He explained during the Fightful Select Q&A that while there isn’t panic, there are people within WWE who believe stronger creative direction would translate directly to better ticket movement.

“Yeah, yeah, there is. There’s certainly some people that wish that the creative would do better, as then ticket sales would do better. And I mean I’ve reported extensively on the comp situation and how many talent were just so frustrated, especially now that the tickets aren’t moving, that they’re not able to get comps to the degree that they did.”

That comment ties into an ongoing issue that has quietly frustrated talent for months: reduced ticket comps. Wrestlers who once had easier access to complimentary tickets for friends and family have reportedly found that access tightening — even as tickets have moved slower than expected.

Sapp added that some performers are now taking matters into their own hands contractually.

“I will say it’s loosened up a little bit and I’ve just waited for the day that I, you know, I hear talent say, okay, we’re just all working it into our deals. Some of them are and some of them were. I think it was even Roman Reigns advised some wrestlers like, if you want it, don’t expect it, work it into your contract. And that’s what a lot of wrestlers are doing now.”

The update comes just days after Allegiant Stadium rolled out a public 25% discount code for WrestleMania 42 tickets — a noticeable pivot after earlier reports suggested pricing would remain steady “for the time being.” Combined with ongoing creative reshuffling and internal debates over direction, it paints a picture of a WrestleMania season that is far more fluid than usual.

WrestleMania 42 is still expected to feature major matches at the top of the card, but the broader build now appears to be under more scrutiny than originally anticipated. With ticket distribution reportedly trailing last year’s pace, the internal conversation is clearly shifting from quiet monitoring to active concern.

Will the discount and potential creative adjustments spark a surge in ticket sales, or is this a sign of a larger issue heading into WrestleMania 42?
