While we still drool over Naoto Fukusawa’s Za Stool<\/a> for Emeco, designed a few years ago\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026it’s worth remembering he has another aluminum stool on the market, with a very different design approach. The Za, shown above, is welded together. But Fukusawa took a very different approach for his D\u00e9j\u00e0-vu Stool<\/a>, designed for Magis about two decades ago.<\/p>\n

The D\u00e9j\u00e0-vu was designed to be flatpacked, and user-assembled. This saves a bundle on shipping costs over the Za, which ships as one large piece. <\/p>\n

Both are sturdy, attractive and were created by a pedigreed designer. But if we look at the bar-height, polished variants, the Za rings in at $1,305; the D\u00e9j\u00e0-vu, $700. <\/p>\n
