{"id":476953,"date":"2026-02-15T18:17:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/476953\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:17:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:17:08","slug":"canadas-felix-auger-aliassime-loses-to-alex-de-minaur-in-rotterdam-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/476953\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada&#8217;s Felix Auger-Aliassime loses to Alex de Minaur in Rotterdam final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">ROTTERDAM \u2014 Canadian tennis star F\u00e9lix Auger-Aliassime fell just short of winning a second straight ATP Tour title with a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Alex de Minaur on Sunday in the final of the Rotterdam Open.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">De Minaur didn\u2019t face break point in the match, while scoring two of his three breaks in a dominant second set.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Australian improved his career record against Auger-Aliassime to 2-3 and avenged a loss in their last meeting in the 2025 U.S. Open quarterfinals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Auger-Aliassime\u2019s season record rose to 9-3 by his advancing to the Rotterdam final.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He was looking for a second straight tournament win after defending his title at the Open Occitanie in Montpellier, France, earlier this month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">That gave him a Canadian-record ninth Tour-level singles title.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He won his first career ATP title at the Rotterdam Open in 2022.\u2028<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The 25-year-old Auger-Aliassime, from Montreal, entered the ATP 500 hardcourt event seeded second and ranked sixth in the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">De Minaur was seeded first, though he entered the tournament two spots below Auger-Aliassime in the ATP rankings.
