Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement<\/a> (ICE) agents in July, but up until now, has been hard to track down.<\/p>\n

Chavez is being processed for expedited removal from the United States. The arrest stems from an active arrest warrant in Mexico related to organized crime and weapons trafficking. Additionally, he faces charges in the U.S. related to illegal possession of an assault weapon and manufacturing a short-barreled rifle. <\/p>\n

Yet, Ch\u00e1vez Jr., who was defeated by YouTuber Jake Paul<\/a> via unanimous decision in their 10-round cruiserweight bout in June, claims he is innocent of all charges and is being framed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve spoken to my son, and he\u2019s in shock,\u201d said Julio Ch\u00e1vez Sr.<\/a>, the boxing icon, during an interview with the Mexican press<\/a>. \u201cHe told me, \u2018Dad, how can they accuse me of all this?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m calm because my son is innocent,\u201d Ch\u00e1vez added. \u201cEverything is going to be resolved. The authorities are doing their job, but my son is not a criminal. He doesn\u2019t traffic weapons. He doesn\u2019t sell drugs. It\u2019s all lies, and it will be proven with facts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ch\u00e1vez Jr.\u2019s career has been heavily impacted by the comparisons to his legendary father, considered one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time. <\/p>\n

The burden of expectations and the shadow of his father\u2019s achievements have been a defining characteristic of Ch\u00e1vez Jr.\u2019s journey in the sport. <\/p>\n

Despite his son\u2019s controversies, Ch\u00e1vez Sr. has consistently defended Ch\u00e1vez Jr., proclaiming his innocence regarding recent legal issues and vowing to fight for him.
