The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will remain in Formula 1 circles beyond the end of 2026\u2014but only as part of a race-share deal.<\/p>\n

The venue, located on the outskirts of Barcelona, has held Formula 1\u2019s Spanish Grand Prix annually since 1991. <\/p>\n

But from this year the new semi-permanent Madring, close to capital Madrid, will take over as the host venue of the Spanish Grand Prix this September. <\/p>\n

Barcelona has stayed on the 2026 schedule, under the new guise of the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, and on Monday Formula 1 announced an extension of that deal.<\/p>\n

Barcelona will be part of Formula 1\u2019s schedule in 2028, 2030, and 2032, effectively rotating its slot with Belgium\u2019s Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, which will hold races in 2027, 2029, and 2031. <\/p>\n

\u201cBarcelona is an incredible city, and the Formula 1 fans there always welcome us with such passion, so I am delighted that we will continue to race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for years to come,\u201d said Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe team have invested heavily in the circuit and hosted fantastic fan festivals in recent years, so we look forward to seeing how they continue to develop the experience, both for attendees at the race and for the city as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n

Madring is the only new addition to the 2026 schedule, in place of Imola, while next year Portugal\u2019s Portim\u00e3o will return on a two-year contract in place of Zandvoort. <\/p>\n
