The Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> made another move Monday, following a weekend full of All-Star festivities.<\/p>\n

The 76ers agreed<\/a> to fill a roster spot by bringing in 10-year veteran and former 76er, Cam Payne. Payne spent last season with the Knicks<\/a>, while splitting time between the Milwaukee Bucks<\/a> and 76ers the year prior.<\/p>\n

Before his contract offer from Philadelphia, Payne had been playing overseas in Serbia for Partizan Belgrade.<\/p>\n

In European Competition, Payne has been averaging 12.4 points, 3.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds.<\/p>\n

The deal is for the rest of this season and does not include an option for the 2026-2027 season.<\/p>\n

Although Payne is an undersized guard, he’s provided value to plenty of NBA teams as a ball-handler and perimeter shooter off the bench.<\/p>\n

For his career, Payne is shooting 36.8% from deep and averaged 38.2% from three in his 31 games with Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

Payne’s best season came as a member of the Phoenix Suns<\/a> in the 2021-22 season, where he averaged 10.8 points, 4.9 assists and three rebounds per game.<\/p>\n

Making the move for Payne signifies that Philadelphia is near putting the final touches on their roster before a postseason run. Following this signing, the 76ers have one more spot remaining for a standard contract.<\/p>\n

With that final spot, the 76ers could look to the buyout market, or add Jabari Walker on a standard deal.<\/p>\n

Either way, at sixth in the Eastern Conference, the 76ers will need to finish the year strong to avoid the Play-In Tournament.<\/p>\n

Their schedule will resume Feb. 19 against the Atlanta Hawks<\/a>.<\/p>\n
