Anthony Joshua said that he was ready to face<\/a> long-term rival Tyson Fury after knocking out YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on 19 December. <\/p>\n

But just 10 days later the two-time world champion was injured in a road traffic accident in Nigeria that killed close friends Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele. <\/p>\n

Little was heard from Joshua before he posted a video of himself working out in the gym in January with the message “mental strength therapy”<\/a>, and he made a first public appearance since the crash at a PFL mixed-martial arts event in Dubai earlier this month. <\/p>\n

In an interview with First Round TV last week, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn said that he believes the 36-year-old will return to the ring, but at this point there were “no guarantees”. <\/p>\n

He was also unclear when Joshua might be fit enough – mentally and physically – to resume full boxing training.<\/p>\n

“Before this terrible incident we were geared up to fight in March and then fight Tyson Fury,” added Hearn.<\/p>\n

“Obviously, that is not happening now and I don’t know if it will ever happen right now.<\/p>\n
