The City of Montreal said it had created a borough mayors\u2019 roundtable for better collaboration and sharing of expertise between the boroughs.<\/p>\n
The forum of elected officials from the city\u2019s 19 boroughs was one of the key promises Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada had made on the campaign trail following her critique of the Plante administration for lack of coordination.<\/p>\n
In a press release Monday, the City said the mayors\u2019 forum had already met twice this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Table des maires allows elected officials from across Montreal to collaborate, share their experiences, establish best practices, and advise the executive committee,\u201d Martinez Ferrada said, adding that the borough mayors were best placed to know the needs of their residents.<\/p>\n
LaSalle Mayor Nancy Blanchet and Villeray\u2013Saint-Michel\u2013Parc-Extension Mayor Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Lalonde will co-lead the roundtable. They also serve on the executive committee.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe initial exchanges are promising and herald a collaboration that will enable us to move forward more quickly and effectively for the benefit of our communities,\u201d said Blanchet, who was elected under \u00c9quipe LaSalle.<\/p>\n
\u201c(The roundtable) is an essential tool for strengthening our action in the field,\u201d said Lalonde.
