{"id":480263,"date":"2026-02-17T08:18:58","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T08:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/480263\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T08:18:58","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T08:18:58","slug":"surrey-babies-6000-a-year-benefit-from-sold-out-journey-gala-feb-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/480263\/","title":{"rendered":"Surrey babies (6,000 a year) benefit from sold-out \u2018Journey\u2019 gala Feb. 28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              Surrey babies (6,000 a year) benefit from sold-out \u2018Journey\u2019 gala Feb. 28<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 11:00 am Monday, February 16, 2026<\/p>\n<p>The final night of February brings another Celebration of Care Gala in Surrey, this time in support of the most needy of close to 6,000 babies born at Surrey Memorial Hospital each year.<\/p>\n<p>A \u201cJourney\u201d party theme is planned Feb. 28 at Aria Banquet and Conference Centre during Surrey Hospitals Foundation\u2019s 9th annual gala, a sold-out night of fun and fundraising for close to 500.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 red-carpet event will be emceed by TV meteorologist Mark Madryga and Dr. Kirsten Niles, regional head of obstetrics at Fraser Health, with live auction by Fred Lee, music by Destineak, whiskey tasting lounge and more.<\/p>\n<p>Gala sponsors and guests \u201cplay a direct role in elevating care for mothers, newborns and families at the very beginning of life,\u201d says a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surreyhospitalsfoundation.com\/celebration-of-care-gala-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">surreyhospitalsfoundation.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>No fundraising goal is announced, and gala tickets were not sold publicly this year.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/surreynowleader.com\/2024\/02\/27\/midnight-at-the-ballet-gala-raises-17m-for-cardiac-care-at-surrey-memorial-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u2018Midnight at the Ballet\u2019 gala<\/a> raised $1.7 million for cardiac care.<\/p>\n<p>Surrey Memorial Hospital delivers more babies than any other general hospital in the Lower Mainland, the website notes \u2014 6,030 in 2025.
