The scene after a collision on Hull Avenue and Horton Road SW in Calgary on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026. (Matthew Johnson, CityNews image)<\/p>\nA two-year-old has died after being struck by a vehicle while in a stroller in the city\u2019s southwest Sunday, Calgary police say.<\/p>\n
They say it happened at around 4:30 p.m. when two parents were pushing a toddler in a stroller through a marked crosswalk at the Hull Avenue and Horton Road SW intersection.<\/p>\n
Then, a Jeep Cherokee going westbound turned south into the intersection, striking the stroller.<\/p>\n
Officers say the toddler was rushed to hospital, but died there at around 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, police say the driver of the Jeep remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.<\/p>\n
Impairment or speed aren\u2019t considered factors. CPS acting inspector Mike Anderson says the investigation is ongoing and charges haven\u2019t been laid.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur investigators are going to be looking at environmental concerns,\u201d he told reporters. \u201cState of the crosswalk. Talking to witnesses. When the parents are ready to talk to us, we\u2019ll be talking to them about what happened. Talk to the driver as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
He says this is the city\u2019s seventh traffic-related death of 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an absolute tragedy,\u201d Anderson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s two parents who lost their two-year-old child today, and I think, as a city, that\u2019s shocking and disappointing.\u201d<\/p>\n
