Authorities say a 37-year-old Winnipeg man wanted in connection with the death of three people in a highway collision in July, including the bassist for a well-known Winnipeg band, has been arrested.<\/p>\n

Manitoba RCMP say Matthew Govereau was arrested Saturday in Winnipeg by Winnipeg Police Service officers in connection with the July 1, 2025, head-on collision on Highway 10 north of Swan River.<\/p>\n

Police allege Govereau was driving on Highway 10 near Road 224 North when he veered over the centre line of the highway and struck a parked vehicle on the opposite shoulder.<\/p>\n

Bass player Brendan Berg<\/a>, 42, of indie pop band Royal Canoe and his partner Olivia Michalczuk, 31, were killed.<\/p>\n

A 29-year-old man who was a passenger in Govereau\u2019s vehicle also died<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Govereau has been charged with 18 offences including impaired driving causing death, careless driving, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and more.<\/p>\n

He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday in Winnipeg.
