Heavyweight boxing is no stranger to dramatic comebacks, but Tyson Fury<\/a> says his latest return to the ring came from a deeply personal place\u2014one tied to tragedy involving longtime rival Anthony Joshua.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of his scheduled April 11 bout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Fury revealed that the car crash involving Joshua\u2014an accident that claimed the lives of Joshua\u2019s close friends Sina Ghami and Latif \u201cLatz\u201d Ayodele\u2014forced him to reevaluate everything. <\/p>\n

The two-time heavyweight champion had stepped away from boxing after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, but said the news shifted his mindset almost instantly.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cTomorrow might not ever come,\u201d Fury said, reflecting on the moment he learned about the tragedy. \u201cI suppose the biggest turning point in this comeback for me was the tragedy that happened with Anthony Joshua.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fury explained he was on vacation in Thailand with his family when he heard the news. What started as a break from the pressures of the sport quickly turned into a moment of clarity. <\/p>\n

\u201cLife is very, very short and very precious and very fragile and anything can happen at any given moment,\u201d he said. \u201cYou should never put things off until tomorrow\u2026 because tomorrow is not promised to nobody.\u201d<\/p>\n

That realization ultimately led to his decision to return. \u201cMe living for that day, I made my mind up there and then I was going to come back to boxing,\u201d Fury added. \u201cThere is no tomorrow so that\u2019s why I am back today.\u201d<\/p>\n

In December 2025, Anthony Joshua was involved in a car crash in Nigeria that resulted in the deaths of Ghami and Ayodele.<\/a> The incident occurred just days before Christmas, and shortly after his viral fight against Jake Paul, and quickly drew widespread attention, especially as reports confirmed that Joshua survived while those close to him did not.<\/p>\n

Fury and Joshua have been linked for years as potential opponents, with repeated discussions about a fight that has yet to take place.
