For years, Gabriel Boxer built a global following as the \u201cKosher Guru\u201d through vibrant coverage of kosher restaurants, Jewish culture and travel. Yet as hostility toward Israel and Jews intensified online, his platform began to shift.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up as a proud religious Jew and Zionist in New York, I never imagined I would have to defend being Jewish \u2014 or defend Israel,\u201d said Boxer, who arrived in Israel and was touring the West Bank with American Friends of Judea and Samaria (AFJS). <\/p>\n

\u201cBut a few years ago, almost overnight, everything changed. My content went from fun, food, lifestyle, travel, to explaining Judaism, defending Israel and educating people. It wasn\u2019t planned. It became a mission.\u201d<\/p>\n

The transition, Boxer admitted, came at a cost. \u201cI lost followers. People told me, \u2018Go back to food,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cBut today, education is more important than comfort.\u201d As we traveled through historic sites referenced in the Torah \u2014 Shiloh, Hebron, Mount Ebal \u2014 Boxer described what he sees as the power of physical connection to heritage.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople read about these places, but when they stand here, they understand this is real \u2014 our history, our roots,\u201d he said. \u201cThat experience changes how people see Israel.\u201d He spoke passionately about educational initiatives he is helping lead, including an upcoming university-level webinar series with Israeli public figures aimed at explaining Israel \u201cbeyond the headlines\u201d and giving audiences tools to engage in informed conversation<\/p>\n

Shaping global understanding<\/p>\n

Organizers of the delegation emphasized the broader goal behind bringing influencers and public voices to the region: correcting misinformation, strengthening historical awareness and deepening global understanding of Israel\u2019s reality, both past and present.<\/p>\n

For Boxer, however, the story remains deeply personal. \u201cThis is about identity and truth,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen people experience Israel firsthand, narratives shift.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked how Israel compares with global kosher capitals like New York, Miami or Paris, Boxer smiled. \u201cTen years ago, people thought kosher in Israel meant falafel and shawarma,\u201d he said. \u201cToday, Israel\u2019s culinary scene is extraordinary.\u201d<\/p>\n

He described a dramatic transformation \u2014 world-class chefs, innovative kitchens and kosher dining that rivals top international standards. \u201cThe level of kosher cuisine in Israel today is world-class,\u201d Boxer said. \u201cFrom Tel Aviv to smaller cities, the quality is incredible. Israel is rocking the kosher food world.\u201d<\/p>\n
