From Feb. 17 to March 19, many Ottawa restaurants are catering to customers observing Ramadan<\/a>, the holy month of fasting, prayer and community for Muslims.<\/p>\n

Some eateries are staying open later for iftar<\/a>, the meal eaten after sunset, during which Muslims break their daily fast. Others will be open for suhoor, the pre-fast meal eaten before sunrise. Also, some restaurants will serve buffets, special menus or offer Ramadan takeout options.<\/p>\n

Agha Restaurant Ottawa<\/p>\n

This Turkish restaurant off of Merivale Road will serve an iftar menu each night during Ramadan. It will be open Monday to Thursday till 10:30 p.m. and Friday to Sunday till 11 p.m.<\/p>\n

Areeba\u2019s Kitchen<\/p>\n

On Saturdays during Ramadan, this South Asian eatery will serve an iftar buffet priced at $25 per person, with children under 7 eating for free. The buffet will include beef biryani, keema achari, chicken palak, samosas, pakoras, chats, naan, desserts and more.<\/p>\n

Baa Desi Dine<\/p>\n

Baa Desi Dine opened in the fall of 2023 at 1374 Baseline Rd.<\/p>\n

This Pakistani restaurant will serve a Ramadan buffet including barbecued meats, curries, side dishes and more. The buffet will cost $24.99 Tuesday through Friday and $28.99 Saturday and Sunday ($14.99 for children six to 11, free for children under six). The restaurant is open Sunday and Tuesday to Friday, 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday 4 to 10 p.m. It is closed on Mondays. Buffet reservations should be made two days in advance and prayer space is available.<\/p>\n

Biryani Plus<\/p>\n

This restaurant inside the Silk Road Foods grocery store is offering a special meal for Ramadan for $12.99 that includes chicken biryani, a pakora, dates and a soft drink.<\/p>\n

Cheese and Olives Restaurant<\/p>\n

This Palestinian-owned restaurant will serve a daily Iftar buffet, charging $39.99 for adults and $19.99 for children from the ages of four to 10.<\/p>\n

DZ House<\/p>\n

This Algerian restaurant in Lowertown is offering Ramadan specials, with daily meals priced at $18.99.<\/p>\n

Juice Dudez<\/p>\n

The Ottawa-based dessert shop will open some of its four locations till 3 a.m. during Ramadan. Check for updated hours on Google Maps.<\/p>\n

KS On The Keys<\/p>\n

The veteran Lebanese restaurant, founded in 1971, is offering a buffet on Sundays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. during Ramadan, priced at $34.95 ($28.95 for seniors, $18.95 for children under 12).<\/p>\n

This Middle Eastern restaurant in Blossom Park will offer a Ramadan buffet.<\/p>\n

Lola\u2019s Kitchen<\/p>\n

This halal-certified Filipino restaurant in Chinatown will serve a barbecued meat platter for Ramadan, including barbecue chicken and beef ribs, rice, salad, plantains and soup. A platter for two is $80 and a platter for four is $160. They are available for dining in or to go.<\/p>\n

This small North African eatery and grocery store on Bank Street north of Heron Road will sell Ramadan boxes for $18.99, which will include dates, soup, two burek (deep-fried meat pastries), a tagine, dessert and a lemony Algerian drink called cherbet.<\/p>\n

As in past years, this Indo-Pakistani restaurant in Orl\u00e9ans will serve an iftar buffet. From Monday to Thursday, the price will be $25.99, and from Friday to Sunday, the price will be $27.99. For children from five to 10, the price is $14.99.<\/p>\n

Phynicia Restaurant<\/p>\n

This Lebanese eatery in Barrhaven will be open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and then for suhoor from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.<\/p>\n

Rumi Restaurant<\/p>\n

This Afghan barbecue restaurant in Orleans is offering a Ramadan buffet for $34.99 ($19.99 children 9 and under), from sundown for two hours nightly.<\/p>\n

This Middle Eastern restaurant in Kanata<\/a> will serve an Iftar buffet starting Feb. 24, nightly except for Monday. The cost will be $34.99 ($19.99 for children four to 11. A late-night suhoor menu will be available on Friday and Saturday until 3 a.m.<\/p>\n

Yummy Touch<\/p>\n

This Yemeni-Canadian coffee shop serves traditional Yemeni pan bread, sandwiches, crepes, chai Arabi, karak, coffee, tea and ice cream. During Ramadan, the caf\u00e9 is open Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Also during Ramadan, it will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.<\/p>\n
