Asked if the Masters is off the table, the 15-time major winner simply said, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking ahead of this weekend\u2019s Genesis Invitational, a tournament he hosts, at Riviera Country Club in San Diego, the 50-year-old Woods updated the progress on his comeback from a lumbar disc replacement surgery in the fall. <\/p>\n
\u201cWell, I\u2019m trying, put it that way,\u201d Woods said. \u201cThe disc replacement has been one thing, it\u2019s been a challenge. I\u2019ve had a fused back and now a disc replacement, so it\u2019s challenging. And I entered a new decade. So that number is starting to sink in and I\u2019m thinking about the opportunity to be able to play [the Champions Tour] in a cart. That\u2019s something, as I said, I won\u2019t do out here on this tour, because I don\u2019t believe in it, but on the Champions Tour, that\u2019s certainly an opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n
Woods has not played since missing the cut at The Open Championship in 2024. His last PGA event was the 2024 edition of the Genesis where he withdrew in the second round dealing with the flu. His last Tour win came at the 2019-2020 Zozo Championship in Chiba, Japan in the fall of 2019. The Stanford product\u2019s most recent major win came at the 2019 Masters where he earned his fifth Green Jacket.<\/p>\n
