Police have charged a Brampton man with weapons and impaired driving charges following a traffic stop in Caledon.<\/p>\n

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 while officers were on patrol in Caledon, the OPP says. Police witnessed a man \u201cdisplaying poor driving behaviour\u201d in the area of Mayfield Road and Hurontario Street.<\/p>\n

But when officers pulled the male driver over they discovered the man was impaired, and found a replica firearm inside the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old driver from Brampton was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, operation while impaired \u2013 alcohol, operation while impaired \u2013 blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), having care or control of a motor vehicle with alcohol readily available, and fail to properly wear seat belt.<\/p>\n

The accused is scheduled to make a court appearance on March 19 to answer to the charges.<\/p>\n

The involved vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the driver\u2019s licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.<\/p>\n
