<\/p>\nGranny Smith and Golden Delicious are names of two popular apple varieties.<\/p>\n
They could also become the names of the street that you live on.<\/p>\n
Brampton is set to approve several street names for future use in the northwest part of the city, names that pay tribute to the area\u2019s historic fruit-farming heritage.<\/p>\n
Development in that area will take place on land that was previously occupied by apple orchards, and several names suggested reflect that connection to the past.<\/p>\n
As well as Granny Smith and Golden Delicious, other names proposed include:<\/p>\n
Amber Orchard
\nBlossomfield
\nBreezy Orchard
\nCider
\nCiderstone
\nCorestone
\nCrimson Orchard
\nHarvest Glen
\nOrchardlight
\nSpringapple
\nSweetbranch<\/p>\n
The names still have to be approved by city council, which is expected to do so.<\/p>\n

Street names are generally proposed by developers, but can also come from members of the public or suggestions from local councillors.<\/p>\n
The name then goes through a series of reviews to make sure it doesn\u2019t conflict with other streets (they don\u2019t want emergency services to be confused by similar-sounding names) and for general appropriateness (chances are, Trump Street would be rejected).<\/p>\n
Aside from the above-mentioned names, another under consideration is Savera, which means dawn or morning in Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi and symbolizes new beginnings.<\/p>\n
