More than 580 charges including nearly hundreds for illegal window tint and improper licence plates have been laid in an enforcement blitz by police north of Brampton, police say.<\/p>\n

The weekend operations saw officers with the Caledon OPP on local roads looking for drivers with window tint and licence plate violations. The OPP says a total of 586 charges were laid with 399 of them relating to window tint and licence plate offences during the four-day blitz.<\/p>\n

In Ontario, vehicles are not allowed to have any coating or covering on passenger windows to the left or the right of the driver\u2019s seat that block more than 70 per cent of light. After-market tint is also not allowed on front windshields, and drivers can be fined $110 or more for obstructed windows.<\/p>\n

As for licence plates, every plate needs to be kept free from dirt and obstruction. Plates must also be mounted on vehicles so that the entire plate, including the numbers, is plainly visible at all times and not obscured or obstructed by spare tires, bumper bars or any part of the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Police are reminding drivers to obey licence plate and tinting rules or face fines.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
