It\u2019s been four straight days at Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics that we\u2019ve seen Team Canada win a gold medal<\/a>. On Day 13, the nation will be holding its collective breath hoping for the one Canada can win on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s women\u2019s hockey team is battling the United States in the gold-medal game. The action began at 1:10 p.m. EST\/10:10 a.m. PST<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other than the women\u2019s hockey gold-medal game, Thursday\u2019s a big one for curling.<\/p>\n

First, Rachel Homan and the women\u2019s curling team rattled off a fifth straight win to reach the playoff after a disastrous 1-3 start. They beat Republic of Korea in what was a must-win game to clinch the final playoff berth.<\/p>\n

Brad Jacobs and the men\u2019s curlers will take on Norway in the semifinal at 1:35 p.m. EST\/10:35 a.m. PST. They fell to the Norwegians in the final round-robin fixture earlier on Thursday and will now be seeking revenge.<\/p>\n

What to watch today for Team Canada<\/p>\n

1:10 p.m. EST: Women\u2019s hockey \u2014 Canada vs. USA (gold-medal game)<\/p>\n

1:30 p.m. EST: Freestyle skiing \u2014 Women\u2019s halfpipe qualification (run 1)<\/p>\n

1:35 p.m. EST: Men\u2019s curling \u2014 Canada vs. Norway (semifinal)<\/p>\n

2:27 p.m. EST: Freestyle skiing \u2014 Women\u2019s halfpipe qualification (run 2)<\/p>\n

Homan pulls off thrilling clutch run to reach women’s curling playoff\"CORTINA<\/p>\n

Rachel Homan and Canada’s women’s curling team defeated Gim Eun-ji and South Korea 10-7 in a do-or-die contest Thursday to reach the playoff.<\/p>\n

Homan’s Canadian rink was able to recover from a disastrous 1-3 start that included losing three straight. Treating every game thereafter like they were must-wins, Homan and Co. ran the table the rest of the way to finish with a 6-3 record. They finish fourth in the round robin and earn a berth in the 2026 women’s Olympic curling semifinal.<\/p>\n

The No. 1 ranked team came out firing facing elimination. Homan scored one with the hammer to start the match, then stole a win in the second end. South Korea went up 3-2 with the hammer in the third end, but a draw for four by Canada in the sixth end created an 8-4 cushion and put the game to bed.<\/p>\n

Awaiting Canada with a gold-medal game berth on the line will be No. 1 seed Sweden, a team Canada defeated 8-6 Tuesday as part of its tremendous run to reach the playoff.<\/p>\n

The semifinals are scheduled for Friday at 8:05 a.m. EST\/5:05 a.m. PST. Competing in her third Games, this is the first time Homan has ever got a chance to compete for a medal, in spite of her well-decorated career.<\/p>\n

Canada vs. USA for the gold medal, once again, in women\u2019s hockey\"MILAN,<\/p>\n

Like death and taxes, it felt inevitable that Team Canada would meet Team U.S.A. in the Olympic women’s hockey tournament gold-medal game.<\/p>\n

The game began at 1:10 p.m. EST\/10:10 a.m. PST<\/a>. This is the second time Canada sees the U.S. in the tournament.<\/p>\n

In that first game, the Americans handed Canada an historically bad 5-0 loss<\/a>. In general, Team U.S.A. has looked like the best team in the tournament.<\/p>\n

They’ve allowed just one goal and scored 31 times. The Americans have recorded five straight shutouts on their way to setting a new Olympic record of 331 minutes and 23 seconds of shutout time.<\/p>\n

Additionally, U.S. defencewoman Caroline Harvey has probably been the best player at the Olympics, racking up a tournament-high nine points and enjoying a plus-14 rating.<\/p>\n

Of course, Canada isn’t without a great player of its own.<\/p>\n

The Canadians were without captain Marie-Philip Poulin in that dreadful game against the U.S. It becomes clear how much they miss her, especially after she scored both of Canada’s goals in their semifinal game against Switzerland Monday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Poulin’s goals were No. 19 and 20 of her Olympic career, giving her the all-time lead over Hayley Wickenheiser<\/a> for most goals scored at the Games. Wickenheiser still holds the record for most points with an outrageous 51.<\/p>\n

In the six previous times these two teams have met in the gold-medal game, Canada has won four times. However, the U.S. has won its last seven games, overall, against its northern neighbour.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Thursday, the bronze medal was claimed by Switzerland as it defeated Sweden 2-1.<\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s men\u2019s curling team out for revenge against Norway in semifinal\"Canada's<\/p>\n

Brad Jacobs and the Canadian men\u2019s curling team saw its four-game win streak snapped with an 8-6 loss to Magnus Ramsfjell and Norway Thursday in each side\u2019s Olympic tournament round-robin conclusion.<\/p>\n

The loss saw Jacobs\u2019 record drop to 7-2 during the round robin, but, ultimately, wasn\u2019t all that significant to the Canadians as they had already clinched a playoff spot well before.<\/p>\n

For Norway, the win improved their record to 5-4 to reach the semifinal.<\/p>\n

Now, in that semifinal at 1:35 p.m. EST\/10:35 a.m. PST, the two teams will face off against each other once again with a trip to the gold-medal game on the line.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s possible that the different stakes between the two teams made Ramsfjell\u2019s team play more desperately than Jacobs\u2019, but it\u2019s not like the Canadians weren\u2019t trying to win, either.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ll get their chance at a runback in just about as high a stakes a scenario there can be.<\/p>\n

Should Canada win and reach the gold-medal game, it would play Saturday at 1:05 p.m. EST\/10:05 a.m. PST. A loss would mean Jacobs and Co. would play in the bronze-medal game Friday at 1:05 p.m. EST\/10:05 a.m. PST.<\/p>\n

Great Britain faces Switzerland in the other semifinal.<\/p>\n

Team Canada\u2019s men\u2019s hockey team coach Jon Cooper hasn\u2019t given up on Sidney Crosby playing again at the 2026 Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters a day after Canada\u2019s remarkable come-from-behind overtime victory over Czechia<\/a> Wednesday in the quarterfinal of the Olympic tournament, Cooper made mention that he\u2019s \u201cnot ruling out\u201d Canada\u2019s captain quite yet.<\/p>\n

Crosby had to hobble off the ice in the second period after he was crunched along the boards by Czechia\u2019s Radko Gudas and Martin Necas.<\/p>\n

After a discussion with a team doctor on the bench, Crosby was seen making his way down the tunnel toward the dressing room with an apparent limp.<\/p>\n

Thursday for Canada\u2019s men\u2019s hockey team was scheduled as an optional skate. As reporters noted<\/a>, Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Brad Marchand, Cale Makar and Devon Toews weren\u2019t seen at the rink.<\/p>\n

Sam Bennett, who was a scratch from Wednesday\u2019s game, was at practice Thursday and says he missed the game because he was feeling sick<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Canada is set to play against Finland in the semifinals on Friday at 10:40 a.m. EST\/7:40 a.m. PST.<\/p>\n

Bad weather postpones men\u2019s aerials, freeski halfpipe events\"Snow<\/p>\n

Poor weather postponed the men\u2019s aerials and men\u2019s freeski halfpipe events Thursday.<\/p>\n

Both events have been rescheduled to run on Friday now. The aerials qualifications will start at 4:30 a.m. EST\/1:30 a.m. PST and the finals are scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. EST\/4:30 a.m. PST. The freeski halfpipe event\u2019s qualifiers will also start at 4:30 a.m. EST\/1:30 a.m. PST, but the finals will still go at their regularly scheduled 1:30 p.m. EST\/10:30 a.m. PST.<\/p>\n

Canadians Miha Fontaine, Lewis Irving, Victor Primeau and \u00c9mile Nadeau will compete in the aerials event, while the halfpipe features Dylan Marineau, Brendan Mackay and Andrew Longino.<\/p>\n

More Team Canada news on Day 13<\/p>\n

Men’s 1500 M speed skating: Canada’s David La Rue finished 15th and Daniel Hall was 23rd in the men’s 1,500-metre speed skating event Thursday. China’s Ning Zhongyan won gold, setting a new Olympic record time of 1:41.98. The silver went to American phenom Jordan Stolz, who was bidding for a third Olympic gold medal in Milan.
