Cloverdale Community Association seeking new members; group launches new survey<\/p>\n

Ram Sabharwal wants you to join the Cloverdale Community Association.<\/p>\n
Sabharwal, president of the CCA, said he\u2019s looking for residents who want to advocate for their community. He said growing membership will give a stronger, broader voice for people who live in Cloverdale and Clayton Heights. He added the CCA works with the city, the BIA, the Chamber, and other groups on behalf of all residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cCome and join us,\u201d Sabharwal urged those living in Cloverdale and Clayton. \u201cWe can do more with a collective voice. Let\u2019s find solutions together.\u201d<\/p>\n
He explained that they want more members to ensure citizens concerns are heard by the powers that be. For example, the city will take requests from the CCA more seriously if they have high membership numbers. He said that means more power for residents when they have demands and requests at the city level.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are all a little old and do need younger residents as members, be it as volunteers or on the board,\u201d Sabharwal explained. \u201cAnd we need a younger perspective on issues\u2014and we need a younger voice for a wider range of input on issues.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added more members means a stronger association and more benefit to the community. He noted this will only happen with more engagement, which in turn allows the CCA to bring members\u2019 needs and concerns to the forefront.<\/p>\n
The CCA was bigger in the past, but began to suffer a decline in membership before COVID. During COVID, the group\u2019s numbers were dramatically reduced.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo this end, we have launched our survey<\/a> to find out how we can help with any issues,\u201d Sabharwal noted. \u201cThe call for action, seeking members is always a key priority.\u201d<\/p>\n He said the survey, announced by the Cloverdale Reporter last <\/a>week<\/a>, will close on March 8. He urged everyone in Clayton and Cloverdale to take the five minutes to fill it out.<\/p>\n Sabharwal explained that many of the challenges facing East Surrey are similar to other areas, but without sufficient numbers of members the association is constrained on what they can offer and on how they engage within the community.<\/p>\n \u201cTo offer the advocacy we want to provide, and the service we want to provide, there must be a desire for the community to make it better for themselves and the generation coming,\u201d he added. \u201cWe will find out what the community\u2019s concerns are very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n Formed in 1978, the CCA helps residents of Cloverdale and Clayton navigate local issues. In 2022, the Clayton Community Association was incorporated into the CCA. According to their website, the CCA strives \u201cto make a positive change in the community by ensuring that the residents and businesses play an active role in the consultation and decision-making processes.\u201d<\/p>\n The Cloverdale Community Association hosts monthly meetings at the Cloverdale Rec.
