Matchroom has also struck a fresh partnership with DAZN\u2019s Foxtel Group in Australia, delivering seven events in 2026 to local viewers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are actually Australian shows,\u201d Hearn told Fox Sports Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo [it\u2019s] a massive sort of injection of activity for Australian boxing. Our first big move. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve kind of flirted with these few shows that we\u2019ve done, one or two a year in Australia, but this gives us a chance to set something up properly. And we\u2019re very excited. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it\u2019s massive news for Australian fighters and fight fans as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hearn, who has guided the careers of some of the sport\u2019s biggest names, believes that Australia has a wealth of talented fighters — and may even be home to the future heavyweight champion of the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe big gold that I see is Teremoana Teremoana,\u201d Hearn said. <\/p>\n
\u201cBecause I see a guy there that I truly believe is the future heavyweight champion in the world. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I see a guy that is a tremendous character, you know, he lights up the room. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s got absolutely everything, but he\u2019s at the early stages of his career at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old, 198cm Paris Olympian is on a tear, racking up a perfect 9-0 record \u2013 all knockouts.<\/p>\n
But Australia\u2019s heavyweight scene isn\u2019t short of stars. <\/p>\n
Justis Huni came agonisingly close to an interim title against British slugger Fabio Wardley last year, dominating nine rounds before being stopped. Wardley has since claimed the heavyweight crown.<\/p>\n
\u201cJustis Huni, I felt, was very unlucky,\u201d said Hearn.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, I know he got stopped against Fabio Wardley, but that\u2019s a fight that can turn and give him a shot at the world heavyweight title.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s only one fight away, one win away from that.\u201d<\/p>\n
This week, Hearn also found himself in the middle of a feud with UFC boss Dana White, after White likened competing with the existing boxing world to \u201cbeating up babies.\u201d<\/p>\n
White also took a personal shot at Hearn, suggesting he \u201cworks for his dad,\u201d implying the Matchroom boss lacks vision of his own.<\/p>\n
Hearn fired back, branding Zuffa Boxing\u2019s early shows as \u201cabsolute complete dogs**t.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked by Fox Sports Australia if the feud would continue to escalate, Hearn said \u201cprobably\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was quite unusual to see him sort of come out and say, you know, Eddie Hearn works for his dad,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s something that my competitors have said over the years when they\u2019re really struggling, and Dana\u2019s only been doing it for a month. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo, yeah, you know, it allowed me to go back and fight back and, you know, tell him that you know, I may work for my dad, but he works for his daddy as well. And his daddy\u2019s Turki Alalshikh, but it\u2019s all kind of tongue in cheek. <\/p>\n
\u201cI think what Zuffa are doing at the moment is really low level. I think it\u2019s very average. But they\u2019re a big organization, and they will be a threat. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey won\u2019t just be a threat to promotional companies, but there\u2019ll be a threat to the sport as we know it, because they don\u2019t really want the sport to exist as it is, right or wrong, you know, they want the governing bodies dead. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey want to create their own rules. They don\u2019t want to answer to anyone. They want to tell the fighters what to do and who to fight, and that\u2019s just their model. <\/p>\n
\u201c…I\u2019m happy to go our own direction and follow the codes and the legacy and the history of the sport. And yeah, I guess Eddie V Dana is going to be the big battle that\u2019s going to roll on for many years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Hearn gave fans some optimistic news on former heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua, saying he could be back in the ring by the Australian winter.<\/p>\n
Joshua was involved in a horrific car crash in Nigeria in late December 2025, which tragically claimed the lives of two of his team.<\/p>\n

He walked away with only minor injuries, but the emotional toll put his boxing plans on hold, including his big showdown with Tyson Fury.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve spent quite a lot of time with him recently,\u201d said Hearn.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he\u2019s training every day. You know, he\u2019s still clearly recovering. The emotional and mental recovery is something that is going to take a long, long time.<\/p>\n
\u201c…He won\u2019t be fighting Tyson Fury next, but at the same time, what he really wants to do is get back into training camp. And physically, he\u2019s not able to do that yet. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo, you know, the most important thing for us is to get him in that position where he can physically get back into training camp. I think that\u2019s probably a month or so away. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then once he does that, we\u2019ll just start talking about who and when.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy gut feeling is the back end of the summer, you know, he\u2019ll be back with a comeback fight, and then possibly at the end of the year look at [a fight with] Tyson Fury as well.<\/p>\n
