\n\tAn HBO Original that \u201cexplores the love, loss, and struggles that fuel his songwriting,\u201d the documentary\u2019s trailer shows images of Joel as a child and throughout his career, including video footage of him with his band, sitting and writing music at the piano, and clips from the songwriter\u2019s massive tours over the years. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSometimes it\u2019s alien to me, this guy Billy Joel,\u201d the pop legend says in a clip for the new documentary, as his hit \u201cPiano Man\u201d plays over his voiceover. \u201cI don\u2019t know who that is, or what that is. \n\tIn July 2024, Joel concluded his Madison Square Garden residency<\/a> after a decade of performing at the storied venue. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe were the first group to play at Yankee Stadium [in 1990],\u201d Joel said at the New York City show. \u201cWe were the last band to play at Shea Stadium [in 2008]. We played Berlin the night that the Berlin Wall came down [in 1990, so not quite]. We were the first American full-fledged performance in the Soviet Union [in 1987]. And we were the first band to play after Castro came to power, and we played Cuba [1979]. We played in front of the Coliseum in Rome for a half million people [in 2006]. And the food was great. But out of all of them, this is the best. There\u2019s no place like this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this May, Joel canceled his tour due to a brain disorder diagnosis, known as normal pressure hydrocephalus<\/a> (or NPH). \u201cI\u2019m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience,\u201d Joel said in a statement, \u201cand thank you for understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n
