Brooks Koepka’s brother Chase is set to make his first appearance in a PGA Tour-affiliated event since jumping ship to LIV Golf<\/a> three years ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chase was among the first wave of players to be recruited by the PIF-backed breakaway in June 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His brother Brooks<\/a> joined in the same month for a reported $100-150m and the pair played the first two seasons together as part of Smash GC with the five-time major winner the captain. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Both were banned by the PGA Tour<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chase struggled for much of his stint with the 54-hole circuit, though, and was eventually relegated in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He has been dealing with various injuries since, making fleeting appearances on the Asian Tour’s International Series.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But he is set to tee it up at this week’s Pinnacle Bank Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour in Omaha after making it through a Monday qualifier.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Korn Ferry Tour is the official feeder of the established circuit, with the top 20 players securing PGA Tour cards.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The news was first reported by Ryan French aka MondayQInfo<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He is only allowed to play on the PGA Tour’s developmental circuit as it has been more than one year since he played in a LIV Golf event.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In January 2023, the PGA Tour moved to stem the flow of players to LIV beyond its own membership by introducing a new rule that came with a one-year ban.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Said rule states: “Any player who has participated in an unauthorized tournament is ineligible to compete in any event sanctioned by the PGA Tour for a period of one year.”<\/p>\n

An ‘unauthorized tournament’ is defined in the player handbook as ‘any golf event for which the commissioner has denied or has indicated he would deny all conflicting event releases and\/or media releases or not eligible for releases because it is to be held in North America’<\/p>\n

In March, England’s Laurie Canter became the first ex-LIV Golf player to play in a PGA Tour event when he qualified for The Players Championship<\/a> at TPC Sawgrass via his position in the OWGR<\/a>.<\/p>\n
