Sir Damon Buffini will stand down as a non-executive director, Deputy Chair of the BBC Board and Chair of the Commercial Board when his current term ends.<\/p>\n
Sir Damon, who joined the BBC in January 2022, informed the Board and Commercial Board that he will step down on June 30.<\/p>\n
BBC Chair, Samir Shah said: \u201cI\u2019m extremely grateful to Damon for the service, dedication and support he has given, both to me and to the BBC.<\/p>\n
“Damon cares deeply about the BBC, the arts and ensuring we have a thriving and growing creative sector in the UK.<\/p>\n
“Under his leadership, BBC Commercial has gone from strength to strength. BBC Studios has grown to become a \u00a32bn+ business and is the UK’s most awarded producer. Overall the BBC’s commercial businesses have delivered record profits, and \u00a3400m of returns to the BBC in 24\/25 alone. That stellar commercial performance is fundamental to providing sustainable, long-term support for the whole of the BBC, both now and in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The process to appoint a successor will now begin.<\/p>\n
