{"id":487883,"date":"2026-02-20T15:21:07","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T15:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/487883\/"},"modified":"2026-02-20T15:21:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T15:21:07","slug":"homicide-team-investigating-death-in-downtown-ottawa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/487883\/","title":{"rendered":"Homicide team investigating death in downtown Ottawa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A person was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ottawapolice.ca\/en\/news\/rideau-street-homicide-investigation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">found by emergency responders with life-threatening injuries in the downtown core <\/a>on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Police are not releasing many details because next of kin has not been told, however, they said they were called around Rideau Street and Colonel By Drive at 5:35 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>There, the person was found and transported to hospital where they died of their injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Officials took on person into custody in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n<p>A press release notes that there is no risk to public safety, but that officers may remain while the investigation continues.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information about this or any other homicide is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is a developing story.
