Winter is still in full swing. Lace up your skates and enjoy Mississauga\u2019s outdoor rinks before the season\u2019s over. <\/p>\n

While Groundhog Day predictions may hint at early spring, don\u2019t hang up your skates just yet! Get some fresh air and exercise, connect with your neighbours and take in the beauty of Mississauga\u2019s snowy parks at one of the city\u2019s many outdoor ice rinks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Natural ice rinks<\/p>\n

Currently, there are 28 natural ice rinks in neighbourhood parks across the city. These rinks are built, operated and maintained by dedicated volunteers in the community. Typically open from January to March, weather permitting, natural ice rinks are family-friendly spaces that make it easy to connect with neighbours and build relationships with those in your community. Just don\u2019t forget to bring your own skates.<\/p>\n

Use the City\u2019s find a park<\/a> tool to find a natural rink near you. When you get to the rink, remember to check for the \u2018Ice is Ready!\u2019 sign to make sure the rink is safe to use.<\/p>\n

Interested in becoming a natural ice rink volunteer? Volunteer applications are closed for this winter season. Stay tuned for more information in the fall about how to apply for the 2026-2027 winter season.<\/p>\n

\nArtificial outdoor rinks<\/p>\n

The City has four artificial outdoor rinks that are currently open, weather permitting, until March 22, 2026.<\/p>\n

Mississauga Celebration Square ice rink<\/p>\n

Check out the City\u2019s largest outdoor rink at Mississauga Celebration Square<\/a>. Skating at Celebration Square is a full experience, complete with twinkling lights, music, food trucks and heated patios. The rink is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting. Skate rentals and sharpening services are available on-site at a cost. Join in the fun and experience this unique outdoor space before winter is over.<\/p>\n

\nWoodhurst Heights ice rink<\/p>\n

For a more local experience, check out the neighbourhood outdoor skating rink at Woodhurst Heights<\/a>. Operated and maintained by the City, this neighbourhood rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting.<\/p>\n

\nPort Credit Memorial Park skating trail<\/p>\n

Port Credit is a winter wonderland this time of year. Next time you head to Mississauga\u2019s waterfront, don\u2019t forget to pack your skates. Explore the beautiful 200-metre trail at Port Credit Memorial Park<\/a> and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding area, including Lake Ontario and the Credit River. This skating loop\u00a0is open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.<\/p>\n

\nGulleden Park ice rink<\/p>\n

Just a short walk from the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre, the oval shaped ice rink at Gulleden Park<\/a> is a great choice to get in some laps. The rink is open every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.<\/p>\n

\nWhat to know before you go<\/p>\n

Before you hit the ice, you will need a few essentials for safety and comfort:<\/p>\n

Make sure your skates fit properly and are comfortable. Watch this video<\/a> to get started and consider having a skate-shop staff member help you determine the appropriate size for your skates.
\nWear socks that are warm, comfortable and cover your ankles.
\nProtect your head. A Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved hockey helmet is recommended for skaters of all abilities.<\/p>\n

Stay off frozen bodies of water<\/p>\n

Although it may be tempting to walk, skate or play hockey on frozen bodies of water<\/a>, don\u2019t do it. Deep water, weak ice and constantly changing water levels and temperatures make lakes, ponds, rivers and creeks unstable and dangerous. It\u2019s also against the City\u2019s Park\u2019s By-law<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While you\u2019re out, it\u2019s important to stay away from the ice close to the shore or riverbank. It may appear thicker and safe, but it\u2019s still uneven, slippery and dangerous.<\/p>\n
