{"id":488270,"date":"2026-02-20T19:19:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T19:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/488270\/"},"modified":"2026-02-20T19:19:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T19:19:10","slug":"dneg-vancouver-enjoys-screening-of-sirat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/488270\/","title":{"rendered":"DNEG Vancouver enjoys screening of &#8216;Sir\u00e2t&#8217;!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our crews in Vancouver were thrilled to attend an exclusive screening of Oscar-nominated Sir\u00e2t earlier this week, hosted by Neon at the Vancouver International Film Festival Centre!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sirat_viff-01.png\" alt=\"Sir\u00e2t screening - VIFF\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Nominated for &#8216;Best International Feature&#8217; and &#8216;Best Sound&#8217;, Sir\u00e2t tells the story of a father&#8217;s search for his lost daughter, set at a rave deep in the mountains of southern Morocco.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/sirat_viff-02.png\" alt=\"Sirat screening - title card\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The screening was followed by a Q&amp;A with Academy Award Nominees Laia Casanovas (Supervising Sound Editor) and Yasmina Praderas (Re-Recording Mixer), moderated by our very own Amit Sharma (Head of Creative Operations &#8211; North America).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/IMG_3783.jpg\" alt=\"Sirat screening - Q&amp;A\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Following the session, Amit shared:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Q&amp;A after the Sir\u00e2t screening offered some great insight into the film\u2019s creative process. It was clear that sound functioned almost like an additional actor in this documentary-style work. One of the most striking revelations was that the rave party at the heart of the film was entirely real \u2014 the team lived, shot, and recorded sound over an intense three-day party. The process was very much one of trial and error, with the director keen to explore and capture as much as possible on location, later complementing that material with studio recordings in Barcelona.
