One of the most annoying things about the Pixel Watch 4 is that, again, Google changed the charger. But it comes with the arrival of a handy new USB-C charger that\u2019s not only more compact than the official Pixel Watch 4 charger, but a whole lot cheaper too.<\/p>\n

The new charging system for Pixel Watch 4 uses side-mounted pins. This comes with some benefits, such as fastrer overall charging and a dock that props the watch up vertically so you can see it more easily on a bedside table, but it also means that a lot of accessories no longer work with the smartwatch. That includes a lot of charging docks and spare chargers that have hit the market over the past few years.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s where a new accessory from a Made for Google partner comes in.<\/p>\n

Wasserstein, the brand behind a few other neat Google accessories such as Nest Hub stands<\/a> and Pixel charging docks<\/a>, recently launched a USB-C \u201cOn the Go\u201d charger for the Pixel Watch 4. <\/p>\n

The simple little charging accessory has the contacts needed to charge up Pixel Watch 4 \u2013 both the 41mm and 45mm sizes \u2013 but no fixed cable attached to it. Instead, it has a USB-C port so you can connect any cable. Very handy for travel! It even has a loop and clip to make it easy to stow in a bag or backpack.<\/p>\n

Early user reviews mention a \u201cstrong magnet\u201d and charging at the \u201csame rate as the OEM charger.\u201d Overall, the reception looks positive<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The real kicker here, though, is that the product costs just $9<\/a>. That\u2019s through Wasserstein\u2019s website<\/a>, where it\u2019s currently out of stock. We\u2019ve reached out to Wasserstein for an update on when it might be restocked and we\u2019ll update the article accordingly when we have that information. <\/p>\n

Update 2\/20: Wasserstein, speaking to 9to5Google via email, says that it expects a restock on its website in the next \u201c3-4 weeks.\u201d The Amazon inventory, the company says, is based on \u201cincoming\u201d stock and as such could be delayed in delivery.<\/p>\n

The lack of supply is apparently part of the reason for the price disparity on Amazon, Wasserstein added.<\/p>\n

Compared to the official charger from Google, which sells for $29.99, that\u2019s a great deal.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, it is in stock at Amazon, but for a much higher $29.99 price point. Best Buy has it too<\/a>, but it\u2019s out of stock and also $34.99. We\u2019ve asked Wasserstein for comment on the price disparity, though we\u2019ll speculate that it likely boils down to the costs of selling through retailers \u2013 a few of Wasserstein\u2019s other products also vary in price between the company\u2019s website and Amazon, just not to the same degree.<\/p>\n

Notably, the design here feels a bit familiar. OnePlus uses the same idea<\/a> \u2013 a charging dock that connects to a USB-C cable \u2013 for the OnePlus Watch, and the Pebble reboot is also using the same concept<\/a>.<\/p>\n
