One person has died in what police say was a single-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Mississauga early Friday morning.<\/p>\n
A pickup truck crashed in the eastbound lanes of the highway, just past Winston Churchill Boulevard, around 6 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said on X.<\/p>\n
The truck was in the collector lanes, hit a crash cushion or end treatment and ended up in the express lanes, Schmidt said.<\/p>\n
The driver, a 35-year-old man, was taken from the pickup without vital signs, treated at the scene and then taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, Schmidt added.<\/p>\n
Police are working on notifying next-of-kin.<\/p>\n

Traffic is getting by in the collector lanes, but there are heavy delays approaching Winston Churchill Boulevard, Schmidt said.<\/p>\n
He added the express lanes were expected to be closed until around noon.<\/p>\n
Just before 11 a.m., Schmidt said the on-scene collision investigation was complete, but repairs to the crash cushion were ongoing. The lanes were expected to re-open between noon and 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Schmidt added.<\/p>\n
Initially, OPP said the crash involved multiple vehicles.<\/p>\n
