Alberta was on the board first with a single in end No. 1, only to see Calgary answer back in a big way with two in the second and four spot in the third for a commanding 6-1 lead. The two teams traded two-point ends before the Bears picked up three in the sixth to cut the lead to 8-6. Calgary once again had an answer with three of their own in the seventh to close the high-scoring affair with an 11-6 win.

In the Friday’s finale, the Dinos continued their domination with another convincing win, this time against York. Calgary scored two in the first, third and fourth ends to build a 6-1 lead only to place five stones in the sixth end to seal the deal with another victory, 11-2.

On the women’s side, Calgary was in a battle early with Guelph, tied at 2-2 after four ends. But the Gryphons picked up two in the fifth and then stole three in the sixth before winning 7-3.

It was a similar script in the finale against Memorial. Things were knotted up at 4-4, when the Seahawks picked up three in the sixth for a big lead. Memorial then stole four in the seventh for an 11-4 win.

Despite the loss, the Dinos overcame adversity this season and earned a Canada West bronze medal – advancing to nationals for the first time.

The men’s team now turns its attention to Saturday’s final four, taking on Memorial at 8 a.m. MT. The Dinos and Seahawks played Wednesday night in a nailbiter that saw Calgary score one in the eighth for a 6-5 win.

The medal matches are scheduled for noon MT Saturday.

FINAL ROUND ROBIN STANDINGS

MEN

1.
