We appreciate your patience as crews get to all streets, bike lanes and sidewalks.

Refrain from parking your vehicle on the road, sidewalk or lower portion of your driveway. Parked cars can prevent crews from clearing the road, sidewalk and windrow.
On waste collection days, place your bins away from the curb to prevent them from being hit by plows.
Make sure there aren’t any obstacles like sports equipment or lawn ornaments located near the lower portion of your driveway. They can interfere with windrow clearing.
Shovel early and often to keep walkways clear and prevent heavy snow from building up. Clearing snow periodically during a storm makes it easier to manage significant accumulation.
Where safe to do so, residents are asked to clear catch basins (the square grates on the road) in front of or near their homes of ice, snow and debris to help prevent surface flooding and allow water to drain off the road.
When shovelling, remember to clear around your furnace and hot water tank vents. Covered vents can be a carbon monoxide hazard. If you have a fire hydrant on your property, please clear around it so it’s visible to fire crews.
Abstain from shovelling snow onto the road when clearing it from your property. It can also prevent proper drainage when the snow melts.
Visit mississauga.ca/snow to learn more about snow clearing in Mississauga and use the online plow tracker. Our crews follow a priority route system, which means some roads and sidewalks are cleared before others.

If you can, lend a hand

Check in on your neighbours and consider offering to help those who may need assistance clearing their sidewalk or driveway, especially older adults, people with disabilities, or those with mobility challenges. Helping a neighbour can prevent slips and falls, support accessibility, and ensure everyone can move safely through their community. Residents are encouraged to look out for one another, if you’re able to lend a hand, consider checking nearby homes to see if support is needed.

Snow-clearing updates

Sign up to receive an email alert when the City declares a Citywide Winter Parking Restriction.
