City officials say the restriction is ending a day earlier than originally planned due to operational efficiencies during the response.

With Phase 1 complete, crews will now shift focus to removing centre snow piles and windrows in Business Improvement Areas and other high-priority locations.

In residential neighbourhoods, crews will assess conditions and groom or level driving lanes where needed to maintain safe travel and reduce rutting. A Residential (Phase 2) Parking Ban is not being enacted at this time. This work is expected to take between 10 and 14 days.

Sanding will take place at residential entrances and high-risk intersections, and plows will groom alleys and lanes as required. The city notes that widespread clearing of residential Priority 4 roads only occurs when snowpack exceeds five centimetres, a threshold not currently met and not expected to be reached based on the forecast.

Officials are reminding residents to give snow-clearing equipment plenty of room, keeping at least eight metres back when driving behind plows. Winter road concerns can be reported through 311, and property owners are reminded that shovelling snow onto streets or bike lanes is prohibited under the Traffic Safety Bylaw.

Residents can also sign up for parking ban notifications through the city’s website. Crews continue to operate around the clock, maintaining more than 12,000 kilometres of roadways and 500 kilometres of active pathways.

Edmonton’s city-wide Major Roadways (Phase 1) Parking Ban is set to end Sunday at 7 a.m., wrapping up…

[194294
49,48,23752
0":"post-491186","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-edmonton","8":"tag-ca","9":"tag-canada","10":"tag-edmonton
["GET
