\n\tKPop goes the Annies.<\/p>\n
\n\tNetflix\u2019s\u00a0KPop Demon Hunters<\/a> flat-out dominated the 53rd annual\u00a0Annie Awards<\/a>\u00a0on Saturday night, winning all 10 of the categories for which it was nominated including Best Feature, Direction for Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and Voice Acting for Arden Cho as Rumi. Seems we have a front-runner for the Animated Featured Oscar next month.<\/p>\n \n\tSee the full winners list spanning film, TV, video games and more below.<\/p>\n \n\tNetflix\u2019s most popular film ever<\/a> took the night\u2019s first film prize, for Production Design, and then snagged \u2014 in a decided non-upset \u2014 Best Music. KPop Demon Hunters later added Best Writing, Character Design, Character Animation<\/a>, FX and editorial. The film has been viewed more than 482 million times, and its soundtrack has been streamed some 11 billion times (with a capital B). <\/p>\n \n\tRELATED: The 60 Movies That Have Made More Than $1 Billion At The Global Box Office<\/a><\/p>\n \n\tAs a result of the sweep, Disney\/Pixar\u2019s Elio \u2013 which also had 10 Annie noms \u2013 went home empty-handed despite being nominated in the KPop-free Storyboarding category. That trophy went to DreamWorks Animation\u2019s The Bad Guys. Walt Disney Studios\u2019\u00a0Zootopia 2, the\u00a0highest-grossing Hollywood toon of all time<\/a>, also was shut out Saturday night.<\/p>\n \n\tBest Feature \u2013 Independent went to Neon\u2019s sci-fi\/fantasy tale Acro, which premiered at Cannes and is up for the Animated Feature Oscar<\/a> next month. It will face off against KPop Demon Hunters, Zootopia 2, Elio and Gkids\u2019\u00a0Little Am\u00e9lie or the Character of Rain.<\/p>\n \n\tSince the Best Animated Feature Oscar category was launched in 2002, 14 of the 23 winners of the Annies\u2019 marquee Best Feature prize \u2013 and seven of the past 13 \u2013 went on to claim the golden statuette.\u00a0But last year bucked the trend as the\u00a0Academy Award went to\u00a0<\/a>Flow<\/a>\u00a0over\u00a0The Wild Robot,\u00a0which\u00a0dominated the 2025 Annies<\/a>\u00a0with seven nods.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tOn the TV side, the first two awards of the night went to Netflix\u2019s Love, Death + Robots, and later it added a third Annie \u2013 making it 11 overall to go with 17 Emmy wins. Win or Lose, Pixar\u2019s first longform animated series, and Adult Swim\u2019s Common Side Effects had three wins each. Other TV winners included Fox\u2019s Bob Burgers voice actor Dan Mintz and Hulu\u2019s The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball Episode.<\/p>\n \n\tThe evening\u2019s first Juried Award, The June Foray Award, went to Sandy Rabins, animation and live-action producer and the founder of the\u00a0AnimAID\u00a0effort to\u00a0assist\u00a0and support those in the animation industry who were affected by the L.A. Wildfires. The group has raised nearly $700,000 so far. Named for the Annie Awards founder, the award is presented to people who have made a positive impact on the animation industry. <\/p>\n \n\tThe first of three Winsor McCay Awards for lifetime achievement was presented to prolific Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Miller\u00a0and\u00a0Phil Lord of the Spider-Verse and Lego Movie franchises and many other films. The second went to Oscar-winning animator, writer and director\u00a0Micha\u00ebl Dudok de Wit (The Red Turtle, short film Father and Daughter). The final McCay Award was four-time Oscar-nominated animation whiz\u00a0and voice actor Chris Sanders, who has won five career Annie Awards including for The Wild Robot last year. The awards were presented by his fellow Lilo & Stitch actor Tea Carerre.<\/p>\n \n\tWacom,\u00a0manufacturer of the Cintiq graphics tablet and other products, later received the Ub Iwerks Award for technical achievement.<\/p>\n
