Rally for justice: Surrey mum advocates for change in the justice system<\/p>\n

A Surrey mom is planning a protest outside the B.C. RCMP headquarters in Surrey to rally for changes in the justice system after her daughter and her daughter\u2019s fianc\u00e9 were killed nearly three years ago, and no one has been held accountable.<\/p>\n
Keisha Garie, 24, and her fianc\u00e9, Umair Kasim, 30, were discovered inside a vehicle in the 900-block of Alpha Avenue, near Burnaby\u2019s \u00c9cole Alpha Secondary School, at about 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2022.<\/p>\n
The Coquitlam residents had been reported missing several days before they were found in Burnaby.<\/p>\n
Garie\u2019s mom, Christine Angelis, is organizing the rally, which will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 22) in front of the B.C. RCMP offices (14200 Green Timbers Way), where the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) offices are.<\/p>\n
This rally is not just for Keisha\u2019s friends and family, Angelis said, but for anyone who has lost a person they love to murder and for those who have felt \u201cscrewed over by the justice system.\u201d<\/p>\n
